FREE PATERN Dottie and Chick (English Version)

 

DOTTIE AND CHICK

Pattern by: Paula Mengual

 


Size:

      19 cm / 7,5 inches.

 

Materials and tools:

1)      2 mm and 2,5 mm crochet hooks 

2)      8/6 Cotton yarn, colors: Beige: 90 gs,  Ligth pink: 10 gs., Pink: 30gs , Gray, 20 gs

3)      8/3 Cotton yarn, colors: Yellow 10 gs, Ligth pink and Orange.

4)      8 mm Safety eyes

5)      Yarn needle

6)      Polyester fiberfill

7)      Stitch marker

 

ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

mr = Magic ring

ch = Chain stitch

sc =  Single crochet stitch

hdc = Half double crochet

dc = Double crochet

inc  =  increase – crochet two single crochet stitches in the same stitch. 

dec =  decrease – crorchet two stitches together using the invisible decrease method

slst = slip stitch

rnd(s)  = round(s)

[ ] x… = repeat instructions in brackets... times

(x sts) = total amount of stitches made in current rnd.

sctbl =  sc through back loop only

mm  =  millimeters (s)

 

HEAD 8/6 Beige cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rds.

           01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

03) [sc, inc] x 6 = (18 sts)

04) sc, inc, [2 sc, inc] x 5, sc = (24 sts)

05) [3 sc, inc] x 6 = (30 sts)

06) 2 sc, inc, [4 sc, inc] x 5, 2 sc = (36 sts)

07-11) (5 rds) [sc] in each st = (36 sts)

12) 10 sc, [3 sc, inc] x 4, 10 sc = (40 sts)

13-15) (3 rds) [sc] in each st = (40 sts) 

    • Place the eyes between rows 11 and 12 (over the 20 central sc, where the increases of row 12 were made). Separation distance between the eyes is 5 sc.

16) 10 sc, [3 sc, dec] x 4, 10 sc = (36 sts)

17) 2 sc, dec, [4 sc, dec] x 5, 2 sc = (30 sts)

    • Start stuffing the head.

18) [3 sc, dec] x 6 = (24 sts)

19) sc, dec, [2 sc, dec] x 5, sc = (18 sts)

20) [sc, dec] x 6 = (12 sts)

·         Cut the yarn and make sure you leave enough yarn to sew the head to the body.

·         Nose: Embroider between rows 12 and 13, measure of 2 sc.

·         Embroider lashes between rows 7 and 8.

 

HAIR  8/6 Pink cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

           01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

03) [sc, inc] x 6 = (18 sts)

04) sc, inc, [2 sc, inc] x 5, sc = (24 sts)

05) [3 sc, inc] x 6 = (30 sts)

06) 2 sc, inc, [4 sc, inc] x 5, 2 sc = (36 sts)

07) [11 sc, inc] x 3 = (39 sts)

08-12) (5 rds) [sc] in each st = (39 sts)

13) 8 sc, 6 hdc, 4 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 4 dc, 6 hdc, 8sc  = (39 sts)

·         Sts to finish, cut the yarn and make sure you leave enough yarn to sew to the head. Reserve.


Buns x 2:

01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

03) [sc, inc] x 6 = (18 sts)

04-5) (2 rds) [sc] in each st = (18 sts)

·         Sts to finish, cut the yarn and make sure you leave enough yarn to sew to the hair. Reserve.


LEGS: 8/6  Pink, Beige cotton yarn  and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rds.

           Start usin pink yarn cotton.

01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

03) [sc, inc] x 6 = (18 sts)

04) [scbl] in each st = (18 sts)

05) [sc] in each st = (18 sts)

06) 5 sc, [dec] x 4, 5 sc = (14 sts)

07) 5 sc, [dec] x 2, 5 sc = (12 sts)

·         Start to fill the foot.

08) 4 sc, [dec] x 2, 4 sc = (10 sts)

·         Change to Beige yarn cotton.

09-12) (4 rds): [sc] in each st = (10 sts)

13) [sc] in each st *(except the last two sts) = (8 sts)

    • Cut the yarn of the first leg, keep the point marker in place.
    • Repeat the previous steps for the second leg in the same way (do not cut the yarn), complete 10 sc in  row 13 and continue crocheting 3 sc after the stitch marker.

  

Join legs:

Once both legs are finished, hold them side by side.

Using the second leg yarn, make 2 chains and sc in the first leg, *(in first non-knit sc of row 13, two before the stitch marker). Move the stitch marker to this place, this is the new beginning of the row.

Secure and lose the first leg cut strand, while you are knitting the first row of the body.

 

BODY: 8/6 Beige cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rds.

           01) 10 sc, 2sc (1 sc in every chain), 10sc, 2sc (1 sc in every chain) = (24 sts)

02) [sc] in each st = (24 sts)

03) [5sc, inc] x 4 = (28 sts)

04) [sc] in each st = (28 sts)

05) 6 sc, inc, 13 sc, inc, 7sc = (30 sts)

06) [sc] in each st = (30 sts)

07) 6 sc, dec, 5 sc, dec, 6 sc, dec, 5 sc, dec  = (26 sts)

08) 6 sc, dec, 10 sc, dec, 6 sc = (24 sts)

09) [sc] in each st = (24 sts)

10) [6 sc, dec] x 3 = (21 sts)

11) [5 sc, dec] x 3 = (18 sts)

12- 17) (6 rds) [sc] in each st = (18 sts)

ARMS 8/6 Beige cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rnd.

01) mr [sc] x 4 = (4 sts)

02) [inc] x 4 = (8 sts)

03-12) (10 rds) [sc] in each st = (8 sts)

·         keep adding a bit of fiberfill after every few rounds. Face both sides and close knitting 4 sc.

·          Repeat these steps for the second arm and reserve.

                           

 DRESS  8/6 Pink, Ligth pink , Gray cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rnd.

Crochet in rows, (make a chain and turn your work after every row). Using Pink color, start knitting 12 foundation chains

01) [2 sc, inc] x 4 = (16 sts)

02) [3 sc, inc] x 4 = (20 sts)

Change to Gray color

03) [4 sc, inc] x 4 = (24 sts)

04) 4 sc, 4 ch (skip 4 sc), 8 sc, 4 ch (skip 4 sc), 4 sc = (24 sts)

Change to Ligth pink

05-06) (2 rds): [sc] in each st = (24 sts)

Chabge to Pink color

07) [5 sc, inc] x 4 = (28 sts)

08) [sc] in each st = (28 sts)

Change to Gray color

09) [6 sc, inc] x 4 = (32 sts)

·         Continue spiral knitting, making the first stitch  on row 10 over the first stitch on row 9, use a stitch marker on this point.

10) [sc] in each st = (32 sts)

·         Alternate 3 colors every 2 rows.

11-18) (8 rds): [sc] in each st = (32 sts)

    • Slst and fasten on


HAIR ACCESORIES 8/6 Gray cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rnd.

          Buns band: Knitting 15 foundation chain. Make two of them, reserve.

Bow: mr: [3 ch, 4 dc,  3 ch, slst] x 2.

·         Adjust the magic ring and cut a long strand to wind in the center of the bow and sew.

 

CHICK  8/3 Yellow, Orange, Ligth pink cotton yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook

#rnd.

Starting from head to body, using yellow cotton yarn.

01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

03) [sc, inc] x 6 = (18 sts)

04-07) (4 rds): [sc] in each st = (18 sts)

08) [sc, dec] x 6 = (12 sts)

09) (inc) x 3, (sc, inc) x 3, (inc) x 3= (21 sts)

10) inc, sc, inc, 16 sc, inc, sc = (24 sts)

11-14) (4 rds): [sc] in each st = (24 sts)

15) dec, sc, dec, 16 sc, dec, sc = (21 sts)

16) (dec) x 3, (sc, dec) x 3, (dec) x 3= (12 sts)

17) (dec) x 6 = (6 sts)

·         Close

 

Wings x 2

01) mr [sc] x 6 = (6 sts)

02) [inc] x 6 = (12 sts)

·         Fold in half and close knitting 6 sc, cut leaving a long strand to sew to the body.

 

Change to Orange cotton yarn.

Legs x 2

01) mr [sc] = (1 sts)

02) (3 ch, slst) x 3

·         Adjust the magic ring and cut a long strand to sew.

 

Beak

01) mr [sc] x 3 = (3 sts)

·         Slst between last and first sc. Adjust the magic ring, cut leaving a strand to sew.

 

Bow: Using Ligth pink cotton yarn

01) mr: [sc, hdc, sc] x 2.

·         Adjust the magic ring and cut a long strand to wind in the center of the bow and sew.

 

Assembly:

 

DOTTIE

1)     Sew head to the body.

2)    Place the hair on the head, sew some stitches to fix the hair.

3)    Fill and sew the buns on the hair, on both sides between rows 4 and 8, apply

to each other the foundations chains and sew the bow .

4)    Sew arms to the body between rows 15 and 16.

5)    Place the dress, sew a button on top.

 

CHICK

1)     Sew the wings and the legs.

2)    Embroider the eyes between rows 5 and 6

3)    Sew the beak between rows 6 and 7

4)    Sew the bow on the head.
